                                Welcome to Dahlberg Books

Update on Burma, July 24, 2008

Relief workers are active in the Cyclone disaster area in the Irrawaddy Delta.  Although foreign workers have limited access to the Delta, there are many Burmese nationals working with them who are competent and trustworthy. Seed rice for next year's crop is available but in limited supply. Some farmers are starting to plant; many are still without homes, tools, and adequate food; some are still living among dead bodies, both human and animal, but there is slow, purposeful progress and hope.

Please continue to pray for the people of Burma, and help them in their recovery efforts, even as crises in other parts of the world supplant them in the news media.  Contribute through the charity of your choice.  If you have no preference, Friends of Burma, International Red Cross/Red Crescent, and Church World Service are three that are usually on the ball.

This website began as an advocate for peace, with the publication of its first two books in 1998 and 2002. Originally the website focused on the nation of Burma (also known as Myanmar), at a time when that nation appeared to have some hope of improving its peopleĀ’'s political and economic hopes.    Although we still retain interest in Burma, Dahlberg Books is expanding into other areas, both fiction and narrative non-fiction.

We have solved some of the difficulties which have impeded the addition of new pages and e-mail communication. The Contact Us page transmits your e-mail to us now, but the page labeled "e-mail" should be ignored; it sometimes transmits, but to a different site, which we do continue to keep track of.

BRIDGE AHEAD,  a medical memoir of practice in Asia and America:   The proof-read galleys have been sent to the publisher, and barring delay from an on-going discussion of the front cover, it should be at least in online bookstores by September, and on local bookstore shelves soon after.

Six years after its first edition came out, the novel Flame Tree continues to sell moderately well in its Orchid Press edition (available on Amazon.com). Look for further exploits of George and Vienna Daniels as THE SAMANA INCIDENT brings them to the Southwest Pacific to work alongside
Police Lieutenant Jason Kerro and the Papua New Guinea Royal Constabulary.  Expected to be on the bookshelves by early 2009.

Check out our new Blog Site, "Old Doc's Blog" (See side bar.)  This will be mostly about American medicine and what people say they want to see improved. Sometimes it will be about health problems you may have. There will be new posts weekly; maybe oftener.  For more literary topics, check out our books and articles (the side bar on this website.  If you get on our Blog site, you can return here via "Recommended Websites."  We're the only one there so far, but we'll keep adding.
